Still in the Lake Charles (SW-LA) area, having great fun.Well, we were wrong about all the alligators still hibernating. Good thing we got our kayaking in before we realized this. All three of the national wildlife refuges we explored down near the gulf had multiple gators sunning themselves.
Speaking of the gulf, we drove through the recovering area from Rita. Some things have been rebuilt while huge amounts of debris still sit in various fields & waters.
Our little local public campground was right on the Inter Coastal Waterway so even on the cold, pouring-down-rain days we had a show right before our eyes. Dozens of tugs & barges, one dredge, one good-sized sailboat vied for our attention with the pelicans, ibis, spoonbills, egrets, tri-colored & great blue herons.
Added to our "giant" collection of photos is a huge mosquito, mascot for a high school we drove by. Tell you anything about the area?
Near that was a closed sno-cone shop that listed "stuffed" sno-cones. Ah, southern cooking.
Enjoy hearing from you. Take care, P&P
